🛠️ Maker Space STEM Workshops – A Creative Journey Through Photography
Over the past three Mondays, our senior pupils have been taking part in an exciting series of Maker Space workshops, kindly organised by Fingál County Council. These workshops were STEM-focused and explored the fascinating history and science of photography.
Throughout the sessions, the children learned about:
-
Chemical reactions involved in developing images
-
The concept of positive and negative versions of photos
-
How LED lights can be used to create visual effects and photographs
-
The creative use of AI tools to design stories and generate artwork
One of the highlights of the programme was when pupils got to develop and print their own photographs, using images they had taken at home. These included a brilliant variety of natural and manmade subjects, allowing for a great contrast in final prints.
To finish the workshops, each child designed and created their very own custom t-shirt! Many chose to hand-draw slogans, patterns, and creative illustrations — the results were absolutely fabulous and showcased each child’s unique creativity.
A huge thank you to Fingal County Council for organising such a well-run and inspiring programme. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on learning and left each workshop full of enthusiasm and pride in their creations!
